The two new quarter-litre singles were introduced earlier this evening in KTM Lifestyle Centre, Kota Damansara. First debuting in Japan sometime earlier this year, the new Malaysian-flavoured KTM 250 Duke and RC 250 are assembled locally by KTM Malaysia CKD in its Kedah-based plant.

As previously reported, both the KTM 250 Duke and RC 250 share plenty of common parts with its 200- and 390-badged brethrens. These include the steel trellis frames, the digital instrumentation, the inverted WP 43mm front shocks and rear monoshock, as well as the BYBRE-sourced all-round single disc brakes with the Bosch two-channel ABS suite.

As the digits on the fairings would tell you, the new 250 Duke and RC 250 comes powered using a new twin-cam liquid-cooled 248.8cc four-stroke single-cylinder primed with electronic fuel injection engine that generates 31.3hp at 9,000rpm, and peak torque of 24Nm at 7,250rpm.

This new mill is in fact a down-sized version of the 390-seires’ 373.2cc mill. The bore and stroke has been changed from 89mm x 60mm to 72mm x 61.1mm instead. The mill is paired with a six-speed transmission that’s primed with a slipper clutch as well.

Like its 200- and 390-badged siblings, the new 250 series Duke and RC will be offered with a full range of optional KTM PowerParts items. Check out more details in the spec sheet provided below.

Available for orders now via authorised KTM dealers nationwide, the new KTM 250 Duke and RC 250 carries starting price of RM17,888 and RM18,888 respectively (basic selling prices without GST, insurance, and registration fees).

KTM Malaysia CKD execs have set a monthly sales target 250 unit for the 250 Duke naked, and 150 units monthly of the sport-bodied RC 250.
