New Shark Race-R Pro GP Updated With ECE 22.06 Homologation

Shark has unveiled its latest offering in the form of the updated Race-R Pro GP helmet, which now meets the latest ECE 22.06 homologation.

This release reinforces Shark’s commitment to providing superior safety standards for racing enthusiasts and professionals alike.

According to Mr. François Berni, Shark Helmets’ export manager, the Race-R Pro GP underwent only minor modifications to meet the stringent ECE 22.06 certification. With this approval, the helmet aligns with other models in the brand’s lineup, such as the popular Shark Spartan RS Carbon Skin.

Branded as the Race-R Pro GP 06, this newest iteration stands as the safest helmet in Shark’s arsenal. It boasts an array of advanced materials and features, making it the top-of-the-line choice for riders.

The helmet’s Carbon Aramid (COVA) shell is both lightweight and robust, while its multi-density EPS liner provides excellent impact absorption. Additionally, the optical class 1 visor incorporates anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments, ensuring optimal visibility.

Notably, the Race-R Pro GP 06 introduces a 22-percent opacity visor—a light tint visor that professional riders have long requested.

The light-tint visor, designated by the part number TE22, has also received approval for road use, but only during daylight hours. This feature enhances the helmet’s versatility, catering to riders who desire enhanced visual comfort under various lighting conditions.

In terms of additional attributes, the Race-R Pro GP 06 features an aerodynamic-wind-tunnel-tested spoiler and a breakaway design that ensures the helmet’s integrity in the event of a crash.

The interior liner, carried over from the previous version, offers a second-skin-like fit, thanks to high-tech fabric and 3D Morpho grips. These elements combine to provide exceptional stability at high speeds, complementing the helmet’s aerodynamic properties.

One notable change in the Race-R Pro GP 06 design is the prominent placement of the Shark fin logo, which now resides independently on the forehead of solid-color models. The graphics versions, however, will continue to display the logo and signature in their customary locations.

Shark will offer the Race-R Pro GP 06 in two shell sizes, with the division occurring at the medium size range. Four graphic options will be available: the Replica Zarco Winter Test with chrome, the Replica Zarco Chakra, the Black Matte, and the Red Glossy.

Shark Skwal I3: World’s First Motorcycle Helmet With Integrated Brake Lights

Shark, the renowned helmet manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest product, the Shark Skwal i3, which is set to become the first-ever production motorcycle helmet with integrated brake lights. The helmet boasts two new patented technologies and is homologated to ECE 22.06 standards.

The Skwal i3 utilizes a three-axis accelerometer to detect when braking is occurring, and the helmet-integrated brake light operates accordingly. The brake light flashes three times per second during steady braking and five times per second in hard braking, which enhances visibility for riders and motorists alike.

In addition to the integrated brake lights, the Shark Skwal i3 has white LED lights on the front that improve visibility in traffic. Three modes determine the front lights’ operation, but they do not alter the brake lights’ patterns. The helmet’s battery can be charged via a USB-C cable in just three hours, providing 12 hours of usage. If the helmet is left switched on for 24 hours, it will turn itself off to conserve battery life.

The Shark Skwal i3 is constructed with a Nexan-injected polycarbonate shell, which allows for deformation in extreme heat conditions. It also features a Shark-patented toolless visor removal system, an Optical Class 1 anti-scratch visor with Pinlock 70, an integrated sun visor with anti-scratch and anti-fog properties, and space for 40mm speakers in the helmet’s EPS multi-density padding.

Moreover, the Skwal i3 is the first helmet from Shark to use the brand’s new ‘Best Fit’ system, which follows a campaign of 3D head shape scans. The helmet is available in two shell sizes, XS-XXL, and 13 graphic options. Unfortunately, pricing for the Malaysian market is yet to be available.

MotoGP: Jorge Martin Unveils All-New Alpinestars Helmet

Pramac Racing rider Jorge Martin showcased his all-new Alpinestars helmet ahead of the 2023 MotoGP season after making the switch from Shark Helmets.

Ducati’s Jorge Maritn has ditched his Shark Race R-Pro GP helmets for a brand-new Alpinestars lid.
Alpinestars is yet to released an official announcement regarding the FIM-approved helmets.

Although the Italian motorcycle gear company is no stranger to manufacturing motorcycle helmets, this is the first time that Alpinestars has designed and built a specific headgear for motorcycle racing.

Nevertheless, this isn’t the first time the new helmet appeared after MotoGP retiree Andrea Dovizioso was seen testing the pre-production model last year.

However, this is the first time the helmet has snapped in a full-finished and liveried-up version.

Although Martin’s helmet is packed with vibrant colours and graphics, the new helmet can be seen sporting a sizeable top-mounted air inlet. There’s also a large front-mounted chin mount flanked by air exhaust fitted on each side.

Interestingly, the side profile looks similar to Shoei’s X-Spirit III, although the brand’s new X-SPR Pro is replacing the former.

Unfortunately, Alpinestars has yet to release the official information regarding the new helmet, but with MotoGP to kick-off soon, beginning with the Sepang Test in February, we expect the brand to make an official announcement soon.

New SHARK Spartan RS Helmet Gets Carbon Fiber Treatment

If you’re in the market for a new all-rounder motorcycle helmet, perhaps look no further than SHARK’s latest Spartan RS helmet, introduced in September last year.

The helmet also features seven air vents, three at the front and four at the back.

Interestingly, the visor is also thicker and straight from the SHARK Race-R Pro GP helmet.

The visor is also rated optical Class 1, which means the rider is provided with an undistorted view. Pinlock 120 Max Vision is also included in the box as standard.

From the outset, the new SHARK Skwal 2 helmet conveys performance. Its sharp-looking base joint, sleekly designed spoiler and aerodynamic features all blend into a helmet built for sporting exploits and high performance.

But like its predecessor, it’s equipped with integrated LED lights to heightened visibility on the road. The LED lights are powered by internal rechargeable batteries.
