Red Bull KTM Ajo

Petronas Sprinta Racing telah berjaya mendapatkan khidmat Darryn Binder bagi musim 2021 Moto3.

Adik kepada Brad Binder itu membuat penampilan sulung di Moto3 pada 2015 merupakan pelumba tonggak bagi CIP Green Power musim ini namun bakal beralih daripada jentera KTM buat julung kalinya sejak 2016 kepada NSF250RW.

Pelumba berusia 22 tahun itu menyatakan rasa teruja atas peluang baharu bersama Petronas Sprinta.

“Saya sangat gembira kerana dapat menyertai Petronas Sprinta Racing musim depan. Saya teruja ketika peluang itu ditawarkan dan saya yakin kami memiliki pakej terbaik untuk melakar keputusan musim depan,” jelas Binder.

Sementara itu, pengumuman ini hadir selepas John McPhee berjaya merekodkan kemenangan sulung Moto3 di Misano minggu lalu, keputusan itu menyaksikan dia kini hanya 14 mata dibelakang pendahulu kejuaraan.

Dalam perkembangan lain, pelumba ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team Moto2, Remy Gardner, sah sertai Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 musim depan.

Gardner yang kini memasuki musim kelimanya di Moto2 (musim kedua bersama ONEXOX) akan menggantikan Jorge Martin, yang dicanang akan ke Pramac Ducati MotoGP musim depan.

“Saya sangat gembira dengan peluang sertai pasukan impian saya. Saya teruja dapat menjadi sebahagian daripada keluarga Red Bull dan KTM. Terima kasih kepada mereka atas peluang yang diberikan,” katanya.

Pengarah Permotoran KTM, Pit Beirer juga meluahkan keyakinan terhadap Gardner.

“Saya lega kerana Remy (Gardner) akan berada di bawah payung kami. Kami berasakan dia seorang pelumba yang istimewa dan memiliki skil terbaik berlumba,” jelasnya.

Perlumbaan penuh bermakna berlangsung di Litar Losail, Qatar, apabila aksi Moto2 menyaksikan Tetsuta Nagashima merekodkan kemenangan sulung bersama Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Aksi pertama musim ini menyaksikan ketiadaan kelas premier susulan Qatar mengenakan kuarantin 14 hari bagi setiap pengunjung luar susulan penularan wabak Covid-19.

Aksi di Losail sekaligus terarah ke saingan Moto2.

Meskipun bergelut ketika sesi kelayakan namun Nagashima mempamerkan tunggangan mantap sebaik perlumbaab bermula.

Dengan perlumbaab berbaki tiga lap, Nagashima bijak membuat pecutan terakhir untuk meninggalkan pesaing terdekat Lorenzo Baldassari dan Enea Bastianini.

Keputusan ini menandakan podium sulung Nagashima di pentas kejuaraan dunia di samping turut muncul pelumba Jepun pertama untuk merekodkan kemenangan di kelas intermediate sejak (mendiang) Shoya Tomizawa yang melakukannya pada pembukaan musim 2010.

Malah, kejayaan ini merupakan yang pertama ditempah Nagashima bersama pasukan Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Sementara itu, wakil pasukan tempatan, ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team melengkapkan aksi pertama di kedudukan kelima meskipun pelumba, Remy Gardner, beraksi dengan jentera 2019 di samping kehilangan khidmat Ketua Kru yang kini di kem Baldassari.

Dalam perkembangan lain, aksi Moto3 menyaksikan pelumba Aspar Team, Albert Arenas merekodkan kemenangan setelah berjaya mengetepikan cabaran John McPhee dari pasukan PETRONAS Sprinta Racing.

Sementara drama tercetus bagi perebutan tempat ketiga apabila pelumba Leopard Racing, Jaume Masia – yang menamatkan aksi di tempat ketiga – dibatalkan keputusan ketika menuju ke parkir podium tatkala didapati terkeluar daripada had litar.

Tempat ketiga kemudiannya dianugerahkan kepada Ai Ogura daripada pasukan Honda Team Asia.

The Malaysian MotoGP is an important driving force in bringing tourists to Malaysia.

Director General of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Musa Yusof said that MotoGP had brought in 1.81 million tourists to Malaysia between 1999 to 2018. He presented the statement at the Meet & Greet Session with MotoGP Riders at MaTIC (Malaysian Tourism Centre), Jalan Ampang.

Riders from the PETRONAS Yamaha Sepang Racing Team, PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Team, Red Bull KTM Ajo Racing Team, ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team graced the event. Riders present at the event were Franco Morbidelli, Adam Norrodin, John McPhee, Ayumu Sasaki, Khairul Idham Pawi, Brad Binder, Jorge Martin, Can Oncu, Remy Gardner, Tetsuta Nagashima.

The riders were asked about their experiences in Malaysia, as well as which tourism sites they would like to visit. They also carried out autograph and photography sessions.

The teams and riders sport the “Visit Malaysia” logo on their race bikes and race suit, visible to TV viewers the world over.

Viewers in Malaysia also feel proud to see the “Visit Malaysia” logo in the world’s premier racing classes and at the international stage. It also augurs well for next year which ties in with Tourism Malaysia’s “Visit Malaysia 2020” programme.

The 2019 Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix will be held from 1st to 3rd November 2019 at the Sepang International Circuit.

  • The 20-year-old Spaniard will be replacing the outgoing Miguel Oliveira.

  • Martin is currently second in the 2018 Moto3 world championship with just three points behind championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi.

It has been quite a season so far for Moto3 2018 championship leader, Jorge Martin. Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) gave KTM their third ever race victory for 2017 with their latest win in Valencia.

Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) settled for second after struggling for tyre grip towards the end of the race.

Oliveira’s team mate, Brad Binder, recovered brilliantly by finishing in third after struggling with gear shifts in the first few opening laps.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo squad closed off their 2017 Moto2 efforts with a bang thanks to Miguel Oliveira who finished the last race of the season with a super race win. Starting from fourth position, the 22 year old rider from Portugal has awarded KTM with three race victories in their first ever year in the Moto2 race series. (more…)

Malaysia’s own Moto2 rider Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) scored yet another brilliant finish making it his second podium finish in the past three races.

It was Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) who finished the Motul Grand Prix of Japan in top spot at a very wet Twin Ring Motegi followed by Xavi Vierge (Tech 3 Racing).

Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) still leads the championship as they move to Phillip Island next weekend to continue his Moto2 championship battle.

It was Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) who came up on top at a very, VERY wet MotoGP race at the Twin Ring Motegi. Second spot went to Xavi Vierge (Tech 3 Racing) but the highlight of the race for all Malaysians was our very own Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) who scored yet another podium finish in the last three rounds.
