Moto Guzzi has once again wowed the motorcycling community with the debut of its latest offering, the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Corsa.

  • The V7 Stone Corsa was revealed at the brand’s recent Open House gathering.
  • The retro café racer special edition strikes a fine balance between classic charm and contemporary tweaks.

The bike’s aesthetic is an exciting departure from its sibling, the V7 Stone, most notably with its new two-tone silver and red paint that stretches seamlessly from its headlight cowl to its tail. The splash of red beginning just below the iconic Moto Guzzi emblem on the tank and extending through the side panels is especially eye-catching.

For enthusiasts who appreciate the little details, the V7 Stone Corsa doesn’t disappoint. The handlebars come equipped with sleek bar-end mirrors, and a special plaque adorns the top clamp, marking the bike’s unique edition status.

Keen observers might also notice the absence of fork gaiters, providing the machine with a sportier, refined edge. Additionally, the bike’s filler cap has been upgraded to a billet item and boasts a striking anodised black finish.

The tail end of this machine also comes with its own surprises. The passenger seat, for instance, is cloaked with a removable cowl, exuding a nostalgic racer vibe. And for those who love continuity in design, the new headlight cowl and flyscreen resonate with the bike’s two-tone theme. Even if it’s not the most practical addition, it undoubtedly makes a visual statement.

Colour options? Well, the V7 Stone Corsa keeps it simple and elegant with a single metallic grey and bright red scheme.

Under its beautiful facade, the bike retains the reliable 744cc V-twin engine from the stock V7 Stone. Riders can expect a smooth 51hp and 55Nm of torque, promising a ride that’s as comfortable as the bike is captivating.

With the launch of the V7 Stone Corsa, Moto Guzzi continues to bridge the gap between time-honored traditions and modern-day flair. This is one bike that looks to the past for inspiration but rides straight into the future.

Piaggio Group Americas has taken swift action by submitting a safety recall report to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on August 10, 2023 pertaining to a selected 2023 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello motorcycles, spotlighting a potential rear shock absorber flaw that could have severe implications for riders.

  • the safety recall is due to a faulty rear shock absorbers.
  • a total of 76 units sold to customers in the US are affected by the recall.

The concern centers around a potential breakage in the rear shock absorbers, capable of causing a loss of control for the rider and elevating the risk of a hazardous crash. This predicament, however, is confined solely to certain units within the V100 Mandello lineup, featuring Kayaba suspension components. It’s noteworthy that the V100 Mandello S, boasting Öhlins suspension components, remains unaffected by this recall.

According to Piaggio Group Americas, an estimated 260 motorcycles in the United States could potentially fall under the recall, constituting a mere one percent of the affected population. Among these, 76 units have already been sold to customers, while 184 are currently in dealer inventories across the nation.

The root cause of this issue can be attributed to non-conforming rear shock absorbers furnished with either one or both bushings missing. Consequently, these flawed components could turn at an irregular angle in their mounting points, ultimately becoming rigid and prone to breakage at the lower shock mount, as specified in the recall report filed by Piaggio.

Reports suggest that Piaggio has been alerted to two instances of this malfunction manifesting in the real world, both emerging in the Italian market. These incidents, reported on July 7 and July 27, 2023, prompted the manufacturer to promptly initiate an update campaign plan on August 4, 2023.

That said, Piaggio has decided to address this concern through a comprehensive safety recall of the affected vehicles. Owners falling within the impacted VIN range will receive instructions to take their motorcycles to authorized Moto Guzzi dealerships. Here, qualified mechanics will conduct thorough inspections of the rear shock absorbers. If any shock absorber is identified to be missing one or both bushings, it will be replaced with a duly outfitted unit, all at no cost to the affected owners.

As the summer of 2023 heats up, the motorcycle industry is abuzz with anticipation. Moto Guzzi and Aprilia, prominent members of the Piaggio Group, are gearing up to make significant announcements in the coming months.

  • Aprilia is making significant progress in introducing the RS440.
  • Seen in the photos is also the upcoming Moto Guzzi Stelvio.

Rumours have been circulating about the revival of the Moto Guzzi Stelvio since the end of June, with sources suggesting a release before the year’s end, possibly even at the EICMA event in November. On the Aprilia front, the RS 440 has been generating excitement for several months, and the Piaggio Group further stoked the flames earlier this year by discussing their development plans for a 400-450cc Aprilia sportbike.

RS660

Now, in July 2023, we have tangible evidence of the Aprilia RS 440 in action, thanks to a series of spy photos. Interestingly, accompanying the RS 440 in these images is another camouflaged Piaggio Group motorcycle, likely to be the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio, based on the V100 Mandello platform. It seems these two models are keeping each other company during testing.

The styling of the alleged Aprilia RS 440 is strikingly similar to its sibling, the Aprilia RS 660. In fact, the manufacturer went to great lengths to conceal the true identity of the RS 440, employing clever graphics decals to make it appear as an RS 660.

However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that the RS 440 features a single brake calliper and disc at the front, unlike the RS 660. While no official specifications have been released for the RS 440, it is highly plausible, if not likely, that this cost-conscious model will come equipped with a single front brake setup.

With these spy shots circulating, motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly await an official announcement from Aprilia regarding the RS 440.
