The iconic Le Mans racing circuit celebrated its 1,000th MotoGP race in style back in May as racers and fans gathered to mark the historic milestone.

  • Since its inception over a century ago, the legendary track has been a cornerstone of the racing world, hosting some of the most exhilarating competitions in history.
  • The HJC RPHA 1 Quartararo Le Mans Special helmet is to commemorate the iconic race track.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, HJC, the renowned helmet manufacturer, unveiled a special edition helmet: the HJC RPHA 1 Quartararo Le Mans Special, paying homage to Fabio Quartararo’s incredible talent and achievements during the 2023 French GP.

The HJC RPHA 1 Quartararo Le Mans Special is a custom-designed version of HJC’s highly acclaimed RPHA 1 helmet, which was the brand’s first FIM homologated race helmet. The special edition helmet embraces Quartararo’s signature style with colors inspired by his home country – blue, white, and red. A prominent feature on the top of the helmet is Quartararo’s iconic devil logo, along with his race number 20, stylized with devil horns, leaving no doubt about the helmet’s association with the former world champion.

Aside from its eye-catching appearance, the HJC RPHA 1 boasts impressive technical features. Constructed with HJC’s latest PIM Plus fiber technology, the outer shell combines carbon fiber infused with hybrid fiberglass.

This innovation ensures the helmet is remarkably lightweight, rigid, and proficient in absorbing and dissipating impact forces. The interior includes a multi-density EPS liner, complemented by interchangeable cheek pads of various sizes, guaranteeing a secure and customized fit for riders of all shapes and sizes. Safety is paramount, and the RPHA 1 adheres to the latest ECE 22.06 safety standards, standing as the first and only FIM-homologated helmet in HJC’s lineup to date.

Fabio Quartararo, one of the brightest stars in the MotoGP universe, expressed his pride and gratitude for the special edition helmet honoring his achievements. “It’s an incredible honor to have a helmet designed in celebration of my performance at Le Mans,” Quartararo said. “The design is fantastic, and knowing that riders can wear this helmet to feel connected to my journey means a lot to me.”

The release of the HJC RPHA 1 Quartararo Le Mans Special helmet aligns perfectly with Le Mans’ rich racing history and the passion of MotoGP enthusiasts worldwide. Racing fans and collectors alike can now own a piece of MotoGP history while experiencing the exceptional performance and safety features of HJC’s top-tier helmet.

Jorge Martin has delivered a stunning performance at Le Mans, winning the French GP sprint race and claiming victory for Pramac Ducati.

The race saw a mixture of success and disappointment for the home crowd as reigning MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia made a brilliant start and led into turn one from Jack Miller, only for Martin to take the lead by lap four.

Miller, using a medium front tyre that had caused many riders to crash in practice, suffered an early exit at turn seven.

Meanwhile, Martin’s lead over Brad Binder was up to 1.5 seconds, and Bagnaia, who was all over Marc Marquez, regained a podium spot by overtaking Marquez with a brave move at turn one.

The race was a huge disappointment for Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 world champion, who made brilliant progress from 13th to eighth prior to his crash at turn nine with four laps remaining.

Quartararo’s crash was a major letdown for the home crowd.

At the front, the top three remained unchanged as Martin took his first win of 2023, with Binder and Bagnaia completing the podium at 2nd and 3rd place.

Meanwhile, Luca Marini takes 4th place ahead of Marquez who struggled at the end.

Enea Bastianini charts his third win of the season after conquering French GP in Le Mans ahead of Miller, Espargaro and Quartararo.

Despite an early trip through the gravel and slapped with a double long-lap penalty, Jack Miller still managed to find himself as the winner at the French GP ahead of home favourites Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo.

It was a chaotic race at Le Mans as the race started in dry conditions before heavy rain hit the circuit after a few laps.

The scenario forced all rider to come into the pit lane to swap their bike.

The Ducati rider ran off the track and into the gravel on his way to pit lane and later caught speeding, resulting in the double long-lap penalty.

Quartararo also handed the same punishment for bike swap mishaps after he went into his teammates, Maverick Vinales, garage before jumping on his M1 with the bits of help from the pit crew.

The Frenchman managed to clinch a podium finish at third place to secure a lead at the championship standings with one point ahead of Francesco Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, Zarco returns to the podium with second place after missing out at the previous two rounds.

Miller later shared his takes on the crazy race.

“Winning two races in a row is a dream for me, especially after such a difficult race where I even had to take a long double lap and ended up in the gravel. So to be able to get this result is really extraordinary! The race was really long and tough mentally.

“I tried to keep my concentration and kept telling myself to stay calm. In this way, I managed the tyres well and saved them until the end, managing the advantage over Johann (Zarco), who was getting very close towards the end. It was really a fantastic victory!,” said the Australian.

Miller’s teammate, Bagnaia, wasn’t far off as he secured fourth place finished despite a bad start.

“I got a bad start and made a mistake on the first lap, going wide at Turn 6. Then, there was the flag-to-flag: it was the first time for me! It wasn’t easy, but in a way, I enjoyed it. In the beginning, I didn’t feel completely comfortable on the bike, but in the wet, I was able to find my rhythm right away.

“Finishing fourth in these conditions is a really good result, also considering that last year I was very slow in the rain. Now I am second in the Championship, just one point behind Quartararo, so I’m delighted,” he said.

Ducati will be back in action at their home turf in Mugello for the Italian GP at the end of the month.
