Electric motorcycle manufacturer, Super Soco has officially unveiled the limited-edition JL99 CUMini scooter in partnership with retired MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo.

Super Soco recently drop a teaser of the upcoming scooter and the special collaboration saw the Spanish rider posting numerous photos onboard various models.

Nonetheless, Super Soco finally took the partnership a step further by unveiling the special edition JL99 CUMini scooter at EICMA 2021, the world’s biggest motorcycle show.

The JL99 CUMini scooter features a special livery, a combination of a black colour scheme with red accents including Jorge Lorenzo’s signature number 99.

According to the company, the special edition motorcycle was also upgraded with LED headlights, top-case and Rizoma components (mirrors, turn signals and levers).

Despite the aggressive colourway and a collaboration with a MotoGP champion, the CUMini is actually Super Soco’s most friendly and entry-level scooter with a top speed of just 50km/h and 60km range.

Electric motorcycle manufacturer VMoto Soco is scheduled to unveil a limited edition JL99 electric scooter at EICMA.

Based on a teaser photo that shows the scooter silhouette, the motorcycle features Jorge Lorenzo’s signature JL99 lettering.

Lorenzo also recently shared a photo of him with the Vmoto Super Soco CPx.

However, according to reports, the JL99 editions scooter won’t be based on the CPx; instead, it looks like it’ll be based on the more petite CU Mini electric scooter.

Interestingly, Lorenzo’s unique collaboration started as a joke by the rider to the company management about a special edition scooter named after himself.

Funnily enough, it triggers VMoto to produce the limited edition model with the 3-time MotoGP World Champion.

The ex-MotoGP star is also scheduled to feature at EICMA with the scooter.

The CU Mini features a 600-watt electric motor with a 0.96 kWh lithium-ion battery that promises a range of around 60km with a max speed of 60km/h.

Three-time MotoGP World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo, revealed how he turned down the approach from Petronas Sepang Racing Team (PSRT) in 2018.

Speaking in the latest episode of his 99seconds on Youtube, Lorenzo admitted that he left Yamaha to join Ducati at the start of 2017 to become one of the riders to win titles with different manufacturers.

However, the Spaniard struggled to adapt to the unique handling of the Desmosedici GP machine, which he admitted in his YouTube vlog.

“In 2018, I was the rider who had the best starts, braked later than anyone and put the bike upright first to use all of Ducati’s power, meaning I accelerated the best, but I suffered from the same problem again and again.

“I had arm fatigue during the races, and that made me slow my pace very much and also a turning problem that made the front wheel not want to turn in the same way as the rear.

“Supposedly this was caused by the aerodynamics, those large wings that Ducati had, which made a type of turbulence in the middle of the corner, at maximum lean, and with worn tyres, it made it very difficult,” he explained.

Expecting the axe from Ducati the following season, Lorenzo admitted there were in-depth talks with PSRT, who prepared to build the bike around him.

“I didn’t really feel like [joining Petronas] because I’d already been in the official Yamaha team and it seemed like a step back. Everything seemed black…. All my thoughts were negative. I didn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he added.

According to Lorenzo, his future took an unexpected turn when HRC boss, Alberto Puig, reached out to him during the mid-season test between French and Italian GP.

Interestingly, Honda was keen to hire Lorenzo to replace Dani Pedrosa, but the rider was asked to kept it a secret despite his manager continuing working on the PSRT deal.

“I received a surprise call from Alberto Puig, who told me that he didn’t want me to get too excited but joining the Honda team in 2019 was a possibility.

“He still had to work with the Japanese team, but they said the option was interesting, and that the most important obstacle, that I had already anticipated, was that Marquez could supposedly veto me from joining. But they had already spoken with Marc and he had no problem about me joining the team,” said Lorenzo.

Retired three-time MotoGP world champion, Jorge Lorenzo, praised his former Repsol Honda team-mate, Marc Marquez, after his comeback at Portimao.

The sixth-time MotoGP champion finally returns to the track after 265 days due to a broken right arm sustained in the 2019 opening round in Jerez.

Marquez clocked the third-fastest time in FP1 before qualifying P6 and finished the race at seventh place despite the long layoff.

He also managed to place himself within the Top 3 at Turn 1 during the early stage of the race.

Marquez, also the only Honda rider, managed to remain on his bike while Pol Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Marquez crashed during free practice and race day.

“About Marc Marquez, more than his speed, I was even more surprised by his return, after nine months from a super complicated injury, possibly the longest injury in motorcycle history, and he has returned to race MotoGP without any fear of hurting himself again, having scares and taking risks to achieve an incredible result.

“He is from another planet,” said Lorenzo on his YouTube channel.

Nonetheless, Lorenzo thinks the 28-year-old will take some time before returning to his best.

“It may take a while until he is back to being the top Marquez of 2019 and there are also new younger rivals, such as Quartararo at 21, Mir at 22, Bagnaia 24. But I have no doubt that Marc will win races and fight for the world championship again, perhaps this one as well,” he added.

Jorge Lorenzo always knows his way with words and never shy to drop a bombshell involving current and past MotoGP team and rider.

As a three-time MotoGP world champion, he has the right to express his opinions on the race’s important aspect.

In order to voice out his opinion louder, the former Yamaha, Ducati and Honda rider decided to become a YouTuber by launching his own YouTube channel, Jorge Lorenzo Official.

The channel shows the 33-year-old former MotoGP champion giving us a free and unparalleled insight into the sport.

Through a series named #99Seconds, Lorenzo gives us an unbiased prediction and post-race insight of the 2021 MotoGP season.

Although Lorenzo delivers his talks in Spanish, you can turn on the English subtitles provided.

Nevertheless, this just proved how well the Spaniard is coping post-MotoGP, which definitely will open a new path for other ex-racer to follow suit.

Laman media sosial MotoGP menjadi panas gara-gara memuat naik imej kemalangan menimpa pelumba uji Yamaha, Cal Crutchlow.

Crutchlow kemalangan di Selekoh 2 (Turn 2) di Litar Antarabangsa Losail sewaktu sesi ujian pra-musim 2021.

Dia sertai beberapa pelumba lain yang terbabas di Selekoh 2 sebaik selepas suhu litar turun ekoran cuaca bertukar malam.

Bagaimanapun, komen tiga kali juara dunia, Jorge Lorenzo dengan kenyataan, “I told you,” mencetuskan rasa tidak puas hati ramai pihak, antaranya pelumba Ducati, Jack Miller.

Hari pertama ujian pra-musim menyaksikan pelumba Aprilia, Aleix Espargaro merekodkan masa terpantas diikuti Stefan Bradl kedua dan pertahan juara, Joan Mir, ketiga.

It has a topsy turvy couple of years for three-time MotoGP world champion, Jorge Lorenzo, but that doesn’t mean that he’s not enjoying his ‘retirement’ life after ending his racing career last season. For the first time since 2018, Lorenzo finally got his first top 4 finish but not in something he’s known for. (more…)
