Ducati Panigale R

  • PBM Be Wiser Ducati Team is selling their 2018 Ducati Panigale R.

  • The bike weighs just 165kg and can hit 338 km/h.

  • All for just £ 70,000.

Fancy a real race tuned Ducati? Well, here’s a deal and half for you: PBM Be Wiser Ducati Team is selling their 2018 Ducati Panigale R!

The team competes in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) with champion Shane “Shakey” Byrne and Glenn Irwin as their original lineup of riders. But Shakey had a serious accident early in the season and was replaced by Andrew Irwin.

Shakey had a win and two podiums before his career-ending crash at Snetterton. Glenn went on to post seven podium finishes on the bike, while Andrew finished fourth twice.

So you see, this bike isn’t some tarted up hobby team race bike – it’s the real deal!

Yes, it’s based on the Panigale 1199, but check out these specs.

Termignoni exhausts, race-spec Brembo brakes, Öhlins suspension. Sounds meh? Wait! The bike weighs only 165kg dry. The engine produces 210 HP. Yup, 210 Italian stallions.

Top speed is claimed to hit 338 km/h (210 mph).

The team is also throwing in two extra “low mileage” engines into the deal.

Great, huh?

All for just RM 360,629.50 (£ 70,000).

The WorldSBK Ducati factory squad has pulled the covers off their latest and last Ducati Panigale V-Twin race bike.

The 1198cc Superquadro L-Twin powered machine will have its final hurrah together with star riders, Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri.

Beginning 2019, Ducati will be using the Ducati Panigale V4 R race bike to conform to the new rules of World Superbikes.

As the WorldSBK 2018 gets nearer, the folks over at Ducati has unveiled their final Ducati Panigale V-twin race bike that they’ll use to compete this year before moving on towards the Ducati Panigale V4 machinery beginning of 2019. (more…)

The upcoming Ducati Panigale V4 is not due to be official unveiled for another two months or so; Ducati will take the wraps off of it on November 5th, most likely during this year’s EICMA show. But because it is arguably the most anticipated motorcycle of the year, photos and teasers have already been hitting the internet for a while now.

The photo above was published in a few motorcycle websites and blogs, and shows what seems to be the full production ready machine.

This is not the only photo to hit the internet, just last week the photo below was uploaded, supposedly from a track test session. While the photo below is grainy and not does not show much about the bike, we do get the full view of the fairing while the photo above shows a clearer view of the rest of the bike.

The fairing is probably the biggest change to the new Panigale V4. The wordings on the side that clearly read Panigale V4 also confirm the fact that the new Ducati will retain the Panigale branding.

From these photos we can deduce that the new Ducati sports bike does not look all that different from the model it replaces. The headlights, seat and tail unit seem to be largely the same as the old bike.

But despite looking visually similar, the fairing is all-new, with the headlight recesses looking more like air ducts than headlight mounts. It is likely that the recesses will play a dual-role of channeling air to the radiators as well as headlight mounts.

Not much else is know about the new V4 except for the engine. According to Ducati, the new 1103cc V4 engine is derived from the race spec Desmosedici engine used in MotoGP. It produces 210hp and 120Nm of torque. There will also be another engine with less than 1000cc but producing more power. Ducati says that the engine will be used in the new Panigale R, and is already in advanced stages of testing.

Listen to the sound of Ducati’s new V4 engine in the video below:

Finally, the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition has been launched at the WorldSBK US Round at the iconic Laguna Seca race track.

The final edition dressed elegantly in the iconic tricolore livery is essentially a watered down Superleggera but still packs a punch with 209hp.

Priced at $40,000 (around RM172,000), the last ever V-twin powered Panigale will give way to the next V-4 powered Ducati superbike which will hopefully be introduced at the end of this year.

July 7 is the date where the world will see what could possibly be the final final final Ducati Panigale. Ducati has sent out tease after tease (see video below) and has even let the world know that July 7 is an important date.

July 7 is also the date where the MotoGP circus heads to the legendary Laguna Seca, and that is where Ducati will drop the covers on one of the most anticipated superbikes of this year. It is also an important date because apparently the new final final final Panigale R will be the last Ducati superbike featuring a L-Twin engine. Ducati will be switching over to an all-new engine format, back in January of this year, CEO Claudio Domenicalli had confirmed that the Italian bike maker will be ditching the much loved L-Twin for a more mainstream V4 engine.

The next generation Ducati superbike will no longer feature the iconic L-Twin, and will instead revert to the aforementioned V4 format, which is favoured by Japanese bike makers like Yamaha and Honda for being rich in torque, and incredibly smooth.

But for now, what will the final final final Panigale R be like compared to the flagship Superleggera? Well, apparently a Ducati dealer had leaked some information on to the internet, and this is what we have found out:

  • Jonathan Rea dominated Race 2 with new race format

  • Ducati duo Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri completed podium spots

With a win in Race 1, Rea looked to have a challenge laid out for him with the new race format. The new ruling meant that Rea had to start the second race from the back of the third row in P9 but that did not stop him from being victorious. The top spot was fought viciously between four riders; Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing) together with Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team). The win also marked Rea’s 40th career victory in WorldSBK. (more…)

Aruba.it Racing Ducati WSBK Team reveals new 2016 livery and donned on Ducati Panigale R race bike. (more…)

English riders Jonathan Rea and Chaz Davies reigned supreme during race 1 and 2 respectively at the Pirelli Malaysian Round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship in Sepang last weekend.

Race 1

In the beginning stages of race 1, it looked like Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Time) was on his way to  the chequered flag as he was ahead of Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati SBK Team) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) by approximately 3 seconds, Sykes’ tyres gave way with 4 laps remaining, allowing Davies and Rea to overtake him.

The battle between them lasted all the way until the last corner, where Davies managed to overtake Rea, only to get overtaken again right before the finishing line. In fact, the pair swapped places three times on the final lap before the last corner. The victory at Race 1’s marked Rea’s 10th win this year.

The winners aside, the closest on track fight was between the Aprilia pairing of Leon Haslam and Max Biaggi who were dicing for 5th and 6th.

Wildcard entry Max Biaggi, who represented the Aprilia Racing Team on the other hand finished third, claiming a historic 71st podium finish, extending his own record of being the oldest rider to ever stand on a WorldSBK podium.

Sylvain Guintoli also claimed a season best 4th after his Pata Honda appeared to be kinder to its tyres while Poleman Sykes dropped to 5thafter setting a blistering pace that saw him shatter the lap record in the early stages.

Alex Lowes was 6th aboard the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki ahead of Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team), Althea Racing pairing Matteo Baiocco and Niccolo Canepa, and Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team) who dropped from what looked like a safe 4th to 10th in the final few laps.

David Salom (Team Pedercini), Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Roman Ramos (Team Go Eleven) and Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing) completed the point scorers.

Race 2

In Race 2, it was drama at the first corner itself as Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing Team) crashed out of contention. The next drama occurred when former champion Tom Sykes crashed at Turn 9 with ten laps to go. This was a big blow to Sykes as it ended his championship ambitions for 2015.

Up front, the battle this time was once again between Chaz Davies and Jonathan Rea. Thanks to his consistent pace until the end, Davies was able to secure his 3rdvictory in four races, moving into 2nd overall in the championship standings. Jordi Torres of the Aprilia Racing Team finished third, claiming his second podium finish of the season.

Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda) scored another 4th position, his best weekend of the season ahead of team mate Michael van der Mark who made up for his race one retirement with a fine 5th.

Leon Haslam was 6th on his Aprilia Racing – Red Devils machine, finishing a tenth behind the Dutchman.

David Salom (Team Pedercini), Alex Lowes, Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing) and Roman Ramos (Team Go Eleven) were 7th to 10threspectively with Niccolo Canepa (Althea Racing), Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), Randy de Puniet (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Tom Sykes and Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing) completing the points finishers.

After the action in Sepang, the race for overall title has gone all wrong for Tom Sykes, who was almost 90 points ahead of the closest competitor last week. Well, looks like he has nobody else to blame except himself, or maybe his tyres.

The overall leader now is Jonathan Rea of Kawasaki Racing Team with 452 points, followed by Chaz Davies of Aruba IT Ducati team with 308 points. And then we have Tom Sykes with 295 points.

The next round will be taking place at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, on September 20th.
