Bajaj

After months of stagnation, Bajaj has finally introduced the eagerly awaited Pulsar NS200.

Though not yet fully introduced, a new TV commercial has shown an upgraded LED headlight featuring integrated LED DRL, signaling a departure from the previous model’s design.

The 2024 Pulsar NS200 also boasts a redesigned digital instrument console and updated switchgear, echoing the recent enhancements observed in some of the top-spec variants of Pulsar N150 and N160.

The outgoing NS200, introduced in 2012, has maintained its semi-digital instrument console with minimal changes. The new LCD digital instrument screen features Bluetooth connectivity, facilitating seamless integration with the Bajaj Ride Connect App.

Users gain access to a wealth of information, including calls, text messages, mobile signal strength, battery health, and turn-by-turn navigation. The revamped switchgear introduces a dedicated Mode button for navigating the functions of the new LCD instrument display.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 receives a visual makeover with sportier graphics, decals, and the introduction of new color options. The existing color palette includes Glossy Ebony Black, Metallic Pearl White, Cocktail Wine Red – White, and Pewter Grey – Blue.

While retaining much of its mechanical prowess, the NS200 continues to feature USD forks and standard dual-channel ABS. The braking system consists of 300 mm and 230 mm discs at the front and rear, respectively, along with a Nitrox mono shock absorber at the rear. Both front and rear wheels are fitted with 17-inch tires (100/80 front and 130/70 rear).

Powering the NS200 is the same 199.5 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, triple spark, 4-valve, FI DTS-i engine, delivering 24.5 PS of maximum power and 18.74 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

With these updates, the 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 may see a modest price increase.

For Malaysians, the Bajaj Pulsar is known as the Modenas Pulsar since it is assembled and distributed by the national bike maker.

The Pulsar has enjoyed success since it offers good value for money. But the updates have stopped for a while and the Pulsar now looks and feels dated as compared to the competition. So it is about time that the Malaysian model is updated.

Pierer Mobility Group, now the leading European two-wheel manufacturer after acquiring KTM, achieved notable success in the first half of 2023 with 190,293 bikes sold — a 16.5 percent increase from 2022.

Looking ahead to 2024 and according to reports circulating the web, the group aims to strengthen its position by selling the R Raymon and Felt bicycle brands and focusing on Husqvarna and GasGas e-bicycle production.

This strategic decision concentrates efforts on the core motorcycle brands: KTM, GasGas, Husqvarna, and MV Agusta. Simultaneously, the group plans to cut 300 jobs in Austrian plants and shift production to partnerships in India (with Bajaj) and China (with CFMoto), along with relocating some R&D activities.

This move is prompted by an analysis of Europe’s economic situation, anticipating a 2024 contraction, particularly with the European Central Bank maintaining current interest rates. Despite economic challenges, the group’s solid liquidity enables support for dealers and suppliers, making 2024 a consolidation year.

The decision to relocate production to China is justified by a positive collaboration with CFMoto. The 790 Duke and 790 Adventure mid-displacement models have already been moved to China, capitalizing on lower production costs and enhancing KTM’s presence in Far East markets.

Pierer Mobility Group and CFMoto plan to double joint production from 50,000 to 100,000 units. The board remains optimistic about maintaining 2023 sales levels in 2024, targeting an EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) margin of 5 to 7 percent. To ensure profitability, the management plans double-digit million cost-cutting measures in 2024.

Expressing confidence in MV Agusta’s legacy, Pierer Mobility Group highlights the success of the new MV Agusta LXP Orioli adventure model with a 900cc three-cylinder engine. To boost MV Agusta’s global presence, models will be distributed through the Pierer Mobility Group dealer network.

Finally, the call option for KTM AG to acquire a majority stake in MV Agusta, based on the annual financial statements as of December 31, 2025, will be exercised in spring 2026—a significant turning point for the Italian legend, ending years of financial uncertainty.

In another potentially collaboration, Triumph Motorcycles and Bajaj are believed to be working on the development of a 250cc scrambler motorcycle.

  • several reliable Indian publications have reported sightings of the Speed 250 and Scrambler 250 models listed on the manufacturer’s website.
  • a 250cc scrambler could expand Triumph’s market reach globally.

Bajaj has been entrusted with the production and development of the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X models, which were recently launched to great acclaim on June 27, 2023.

By outsourcing production to Bajaj, Triumph aims to make its motorcycles more accessible to a wider range of riders around the globe.

The introduction of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X motorcycles has significantly lowered the entry barriers to Triumph ownership, as these new models are considerably more affordable than the existing lineup. Prior to their release, the Trident 660 stood as the most affordable Triumph motorcycle.

Although the purported listings of the Speed 250 and Scrambler 250 on Triumph’s website could not be independently verified, the multiple credible sources reporting their presence indicate that these models are either in development or already prepared for an imminent launch.

While it is essential to approach these reports as speculative until officially confirmed by Triumph, the introduction of a 250cc motorcycle series would undoubtedly strengthen the brand’s presence and appeal to a wider audience.

Triumph Motorcycles has introduced the highly anticipated 2024 Scrambler 400 X, the second model after the Speed 400.

  • Designed as a retro-styled scrambler, it shares the same platform and engine as the Speed 400 but offers a distinct riding experience and aesthetic appeal.
  • The Scrambler 400 X is powered by the same 398cc single-cylinder engine as the Speed 400.

The Scrambler 400 X features the all-new 398cc single-cylinder engine found in the Speed 400, delivering an impressive output of 39.5hp @ 8,000 rpm and 37Nm @ 6,500 rpm. Triumph has made specific modifications to the frame, seat, handlebars, and footpegs to create a unique scrambler riding position and stance.

Equipped with a DOHC four-valve single engine, the Scrambler 400 X incorporates finger followers to reduce valve train inertia and a reverse-rotating balancer shaft to minimize vibrations. It offers switchable traction control, an assist-and-slipper clutch, and a six-speed gearbox.

The suspension has increased travel, with 150mm of stroke in the front and rear, catering to light off-road use. The Metzeler Karoo Street tires provide excellent grip on loose surfaces while maintaining on-road performance. The Scrambler 400 X also features several design elements typical of scrambler motorcycles, including hand guards, a headlight grille, an engine bash guard, and a radiator protector.

Its frame design, a hybrid spine/perimeter configuration like the Speed 400, offers stability and control. The bike has a higher seat height of 833mm but remains suitable for most riders. With a weight increase of only 9kg compared to the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X tips the scales at just 179kg with a full tank of fuel.

The braking system includes a ByBre four-piston radial front caliper with a larger 320mm disc and a rear brake with a 230mm rotor and single-piston caliper. The ABS system can be switched off for off-road adventures, setting it apart from the Speed 400.

Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024 Speed 400, marking the brand’s entry into the 400cc segment.

  • Developed in collaboration with Bajaj Motorcycles, this new model showcases Triumph’s iconic design language in a compact package.
  • The Speed 400 makes an impressive 39.5hp and 27Nm.

At the heart of the Speed 400 is Bajaj’s liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 398cc single-cylinder TR-series engine. With a claimed output of 39.5hp @ 8,000 rpm and 27Nm @ 6,500 rpm, this agile powerhouse promises an exhilarating riding experience. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, providing seamless gear transitions.

The Speed 400 features a robust and innovative chassis design, combining a hybrid spine and perimeter frame made from tubular steel. The front suspension boasts 43mm upside-down Big Piston Forks, offering 140mm of travel, while the rear suspension incorporates a remote preload adjustable monoshock with an external reservoir.

The braking system comprises a four-piston radial caliper in the front, paired with a 300mm fixed brake disc, and a single floating caliper with a 230mm fixed disc in the rear. ABS and braided stainless steel brake lines come standard for enhanced safety.

Equipped with modern rider aids, the Speed 400 includes ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, and ABS, all provided by Bosch. The torque-assist clutch ensures smooth gear changes, while an analogue speedometer with an integrated LCD screen offers easy access to vital information. Additionally, a handlebar-mounted scroll button and a USB-C charging port provide convenience and connectivity on the go.

The Speed 400 boasts full LED lighting for enhanced visibility and a sleek, integrated light setup. In markets with specific regulations, separate turn signals will be available. To ensure security, Triumph has equipped the motorcycle with a steering lock, an immobilizer, and a transponder chip integrated into the key, adding an extra layer of protection.

Available in three striking two-tone paint schemes; Carnival Red, Caspian Blue, and Phantom Black. With its impressive specifications, advanced features, and iconic Triumph design, the Speed 400 is set to make its mark as an exciting addition to the motorcycle market.

Triumph’s collaboration with Bajaj Motorcycles has yielded a machine that combines British craftsmanship with Indian manufacturing prowess, resulting in a highly capable and accessible motorcycle.

Modenas has officially launched the new Dominar 250 motorcycle for the Malaysian market at the 2023 Malaysia Autoshow.

  • The Dominar 250 shares many of its specifications with the Dominar D400, but with a smaller engine.
  • Powering the Dominar 250 is a KTM-derived 250cc single-cylinder DOHC engine.

The Dominar 250 comes equipped with a 249 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a twin-spark cylinder head. The engine generates a maximum power of 27 hp at 8500 RPM and 23.5 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The bike also features a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch for smooth gear shifts.

One of the most significant differences between the Dominar 250 and 400 is the suspension setup with the former comes with 37 mm diameter upside-down forks compared to the 400’s 43 mm units, while the aluminium swingarm on the 400 is replaced with a box-section type arm.

The Dominar 250 is available in three colour options: Sparkling Black, Racing Red, and Citrus Rush, giving customers a range of choices to pick from. The bike has a sleek and sporty design, with LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and a comfortable riding position.

Stocks of the Dominar 250 will be available in authorised Modenas Malaysia dealer showrooms from this month with a recommended selling price of RM13,797.

Triumph, the British motorcycle manufacturer, is set to launch its first affordable, single-cylinder models on June 27 in London.

  • Triumph-Bajaj partnership set to reveal first bike in London.
  • According to reports, two models have been caught testing in Europe.

The retro-styled street bikes have been developed in partnership with Indian manufacturer Bajaj and mark a significant turning point for Triumph, which hasn’t produced an entry-level, single-cylinder bike since the early 1990s.

The bikes will be available worldwide and will join the current Triumph product portfolio, distributed by the Triumph-led dealer network.

Two models have been spied on test, a retro-style roadster and a 1960s-inspired scrambler, both of which share the same DOHC single-cylinder engine.

The launch event will be global, organized by Triumph, and the bikes should be available at dealerships in India from the second quarter of this financial year.
