Andrea Dovizioso

Ex-MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso now owns the Monte Coralli motocross circuit in Faenza, Italy, after the tender for the track management was won by the rider’s company, RPM.

  • Andrea Dovizioso now owned the Monte Coralli motocross circuit in Faenza, Italy.
  • Dovizioso plans to turn the track into a complete off-road facility.

As a result of the takeover, the Crossdromo Monte Coralli will now be named ’04 Park – Monte Coralli di Faenza, paying homage to the Italian’s MotoGP race number.

Interestingly, Dovizioso plans to turn the track into something more than just a motocross circuit. It will become a circuit complete with facilities focusing on off-road motorcycling.

That said, the track will also house the Italian Motorcycle Federation’s (FMI) Technical Centre, which will feature an office, classroom and motorcycle garage used to train riders and technicians.

“This is a dream I’ve had for years. And when you have the chance to realise a dream like this, on a track like Monte Coralli, which for me has always been a reference (as well as being close to home), it really seems that all the pieces to complete that desire have fit perfectly.

“04 Park – Monte Coralli is an exaggerated place, very large and in which we want to carry out important projects. I would like it to become a place where off-road enthusiasts, and not only, can meet, interact and share experiences, having fun. We will organise events and competitions.

“You can come there to tour or simply to spend a different day, in an environment made of and with passion. 04 Park – Monte Coralli is an ambitious project, a terrain in which off-road, mini cross and pump track will coexist and evolve together at the highest level, in a ‘full gas’ atmosphere,” said the former Ducati MotoGP rider.

– GPOne

The third time’s the charm.

It seems Aprilia might hand Andrea Dovizioso the factory seat for 2022 after the team confirms the rider to continue testing for the third time this season.

The three-time MotoGP runner up will continue testing onboard the Aprilia RS-GP next month in Misano ahead of a possible return to the grid next season.

The third test will take place on the 23rd and 24th of June at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The move will allow Aprilia to assess the strength and weakness of the RS-GP properly ahead of next season.

Moreover, since the second test at Mugello was heavily impacted by bad weather, the third test is crucial for Aprilia’s preparation.

“Since I wasn’t able to test at Mugello in dry conditions, I’m pleased that Aprilia Racing asked me to continue the work we started in Jerez and to be able to provide my contribution to developing the bike.

“I think this will be beneficial for both of us – for me, to continue training on a MotoGP bike in anticipation of a possible return in 2022 and for Aprilia to receive what they feel to be interesting information. For this reason, we decided to do more tests,” said Dovizioso.

Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer, Italjet, introduce Andrea Dovizioso as the company new ambassador.

The agreement with the Italian manufacturer will also see Dovizioso contribute to the development of the new Dragster 125 and 200cc scooter.

According to the President and CEO of Italjet, Massimo Tartarini, other than helping to boost the company brand, Dovizioso will also support the technical team during the Dragster pre-production test.

“When I designed the new Dragster, I imagined it as a small superbike to be used in cities. One scooter capable of giving the feeling of a real motorcycle.

“I want the Dragster to express its full potential to the fullest. This is why I decided to entrust the development of the Dragster to Andrea (Dovizioso). A person I have always admired,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dovizioso also shared his impression of the Dragster.

“When I saw it for the first time, I was impressed. I am happy to contribute with the technicians to fine-tune the chassis, the braking system and the engine. It’s the details that make the difference, and in Dragster, the details are very accurate,” he explained.

Italjet claimed the company had received thousands of bookings from all over the world, including Japan.

Dovizioso turut berkongsi pendapatnya mengenai Italjet Dragster.

“Saya berasa kagum kali pertama melihatnya.

Andrea Dovizioso got on the Aprilia RS-GP for the first time since his departure from Ducati at the end of last season.

It was a big day for the experienced rider who will push the RS-GP to the limit for a three-day private test in Jerez.

Although there is a lot of curiosity, the Italian will reserve his comments until the final day of testing.

Nonetheless, Aprilia gladly shared a few Dovizioso lap photos with the RS-GP clad in an all-black livery.

The Jerez test might just be focused on Dovizioso getting a feel of the bike, as the Noale-based company already booked a second test session in Mugello in the next few weeks.

There were also other familiar faces with Cal Crutchlow, Mika Kallio and Stefan Bradl joining Dovizioso in Jerez.

Meanwhile, it is not confirmed whether the Italian will remain as the team official test rider after the three-day testing in Jerez and Mugello.

After winning six world championships with Marc Marquez, 2020 was a complete defeat for Honda with only two podiums recorded, thanks to Alex Marquez.

With the 2021 season opener inching closer, the Japanese outfit is still accessing Marquez’s condition.

“We are currently monitoring Marc’s condition to make sure he returns in great shape, and we are preparing a fast bike for him,” explained Honda Racing Corporation Manager, Tetsuiro Hikita.

The never-ending questions regarding Marc’s availability for the upcoming season opener suggest that the team is ‘looking’ for someone experienced enough to tame the RC213V alongside Pol Espargaro.

Although Andrea Dovizioso’s name came up, the Honda top brass is not confident the rider would be interested.

“If he (Marquez) doesn’t make it back in time, we’ll have Stefan (Bradl) with us, like last year.

“There are rumours that Andrea (Dovizioso) could be joining us, but I don’t think a rider of his caliber would be interested,” Hikita concluded.

Andrea Dovizioso is adamant he will not return to MotoGP in 2021 but remains open as Marc Marquez replacement at Honda.

Dovizioso opted for a sabbatical in 2021 after failing to secure a seat as a test-rider.

However, Dovizioso expressed the desire to return as a replacement for Marquez who is expected to be sidelined after his third successful operation.

“I’m open, but at the moment I’m not looking for a place to return to at all costs.

“I am only interested in projects of a certain type, so if there is a possibility of returning to MotoGP in 2021 or 2022 I will be the first to be happy to talk about it,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Dorna Sports CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, has ruled out the possibility of fielding three factory team riders since it was outlawed back in 2012.

The former MotoGP Ducati factory rider and currently unemployed Andrea Dovizioso is said to be in a prime physical and mental state to step up for the injured Marc Marquez in Repsol Honda. That is if HRC wants him to do so, rather than their current test rider, Stefan Bradl. (more…)

With the possibility of MotoGP Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez, sitting out for the first few races in the 2021 season, some experts in the industry theorised that the team might consider running a three-bike team by including Andrea Dovizioso once again into the mix together with Pol Espargaro.
