2018 Benelli 402S – Mini Ducati XDiavel?

The folks over at Benelli will be launching the 2018 Benelli 402S cruiser sometime next year.

Obviously inspired by the Ducati XDiavel power cruiser, the Benelli 402S has so many similarities when it comes to the looks.

Powered by a 399cc parallel-twin engine, the 402S is said to produce 39hp and 35Nm of torque.

The world of motorcycling keeps giving us more and more interesting news as days go by. The latest information from the Chinese market shows that Benelli has been quite busy coming up with quite a beauty which looks very, VERY familiar.

For next year, Benelli will be introducing the 2018 Benelli 402S as their first entry-level cruiser and it is quite a looker. It does however remind us of another high end ‘techno cruiser’ coming from an Italian premium brand. We are of course referring to the Ducati XDiavel.

It’s hard to deny how similar the looks really are between the Benelli 402S and Ducati XDiavel but one thing is for sure, they sit on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to performance but most importantly; price.

It was earlier this year when Benelli launched a range of new motorcycles including the 2017 Benelli Leoncino (RM29,678) and Benelli RFS150i (RM6,988) which are great-looking bikes with decent performance. We’re guessing that the upcoming 402S won’t be quite the power cruiser like its main source of inspiration but at least the looks are on point. Perhaps, a little bit too on point.

Powered by a 399cc parallel-twin engine, the Benelli 402s churns out 39hp and about 35Nm of maximum torque. Weighing in at only 160kg, it is expected to be able to cover huge distances thanks to its low weight plus 16-litre fuel tank capacity.

Other features include upside-down 41mm front forks, dual channel ABS, digital meter, and dual-channel ABS just to name a few. We’re not too sure about the pricing just yet but our guess would be somewhere around the RM25,000 mark.

Some say that this baby will start selling in the middle of next year. As for Malaysia, we might just have to wait a bit longer just to know whether or not M Force Sdn Bhd will actually bring it in onto our shores. What do you think? Yay or nay?
