Kenstomoto Jū racer – 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R turned ultimate naked track machine

The folks over at Kenstomoto displayed their latest creation during the 2017 Art of Speed Malaysia festival which is the Kenstomoto Jū racer, a fully customised 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R.

The brains behind all the design and fabrications are none other than Kenny Yeoh, the founder of Kenstomoto as well as a proud member of the Custom Cartel.

The end result is a super awesome track machine that has bagged several awards at this year Art of Speed Malaysia gathering.

To those who always said that “You can’t teach and old dog new tricks” obviously have no acquaintances whatsoever in the motorcycling industry. While some folks would either revive their seasoned motorcycles by restoring it back to their former glories, the folks over at Kenstomoto took theirs to whole new different level.

The name Kenny Yeoh might appear here and there in the custom motorcycling scene here in Malaysia. Together with his workshop called Kenstomoto which specialises in design, custom and bike works, Kenny took his work to a whole new level with his latest project.

Presenting the Kenstomoto Jū racer, a bike that started out life as a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R. When looking at the bike especially in person, it’s hard to believe that this bike is actually 13 years old. So what drove Kenny into this very special project?

Previously, the bike has had a rich history of making its former owner happy especially going on weekend rides and track days. Sadly, the owner passed away in an unfortunate incident with a different bike and this Kawasaki ZX-10R was left unattended for quite some time.

The younger brother of the owner then approached Mr Kenny Yeoh and after hearing the story, Kenny felt that the bike deserves to arise like a phoenix once again but it won’t just be like the day it rolled out of the showroom. it’ll be better. MUCH BETTER.

We met with Kenny at the recent Art of Speed Malaysia 2017 festival when he showcased a few of his amazing creations including this awesome-looking ZX-10R. The very first thing that Kenny told us is that this is going to be a full-on track bike.

It took him over four months to get the bike ready. Three out of the months were spent just on finalising the design and overall outcome on how the bike was desired to look like once ready for the big show at the 2017 Art of Speed Malaysia gathering at MAEPS, Serdang. Hence why the honeycomb air intake at the front looks super wicked.

The design however did not come easy for Kenny. It took him seven different renditions before Kenny was truly satisfied on how the bike should look like. The first thing that he worked on was removing the front fairing to give it a “super naked” look.

While most folks would agree that a super naked ZX-10R is already a stunning idea, Kenny wanted a more aggressive look. Hence why you will notice a wing-like half fairing which houses a pair of LED headlights for illuminate the way when passing through unfortunate riders that stands in its way.

The entire subframe was removed to make way for a customised aluminium subframe to fit one rider perfectly when tearing up the track. The entire riding ergonomics have been further enhanced so that anyone brave enough to ride this baby around the circuit can actually hunker down to get the best body position when putting their head down especially when blasting down the front straights.

While the engine remains fairly stock, the Kenstomoto team decided to garnish the bike with some add-ons such as a new piggyback ECU, quickshifter unit, AHM exhaust and of course a pair of racing slicks to give the best grip when going through fast corners.

The result? One the most muscular, aggressive and modern-looking Kawasaki ZX-10R we’ve seen in our lifetime that won a couple of award at the AOS 2017. The overall cost of over RM20,000 was more than enough to bring this baby back to its former glory and straight into the life its meant to live, wild in the track with super grippy racing slicks.
