In the name of road safety and corporate social responsibility, the good folks from Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) organised their 20th Yamaha Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign. The event was held at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (Southbound). The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Loke Siew Fook, Transport Minister of Malaysia.

It was indeed a momentous feat on how HLYM has dedicated 20 years of commitment towards the safety of road users as well as their motorcycles’ physical well-being, especially during the long holidays. With the theme “20 years – Empowering Road Safety, Together”, the event was collaborated with a few key establishments here in Malaysia, especially the Malaysia Motorcycle & Scooter Dealers Association (MMSDA).

This historic moment also saw the launch of various safety-related programs and initiatives such as Yamaha Safety Riding Science (YSRS), Yamaha Safety Riding Science (YSRS) KIDS, Celik Yamaha, and the Motorcycle Education & Training Academy (META) Programme.

According to Dato’ Jim Khor, Managing Director of HLYM, “The collaborations with our partners have enabled us in introducing these community activities with the aim to instill and increase road safety awareness among the public, especially to young motorcyclists, youth and children. Road safety is a shared responsibility and it is very important everyone is aware of such importance.”

Those who attended the event today received a complimentary 15-point safety check for all bike models, spark plug safety checks by NGK Spark Plugs Malaysia Bhd, and many more. Included in the programme was also the 800 units of SIRIM-approved helmets giveaway together with safety vests sponsored by:

  • AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd
  • KHI Helmets Industries Sdn Bhd
  • Pacific & Orient Insurance Co. Bhd

Those who are unable to attend the event earlier today at the Sg Besi Toll Plaza can head over to any of the Yamaha branches located across the country for a three-day complimentary safety check from now until 11 June 2018.
