The Estrella Galicia 0,0Marc VDS Moto2 team recently shared this special time lapse edit of how the team builds its Kalex Moto2 race bike for rider Franco Morbidelli. The video gives us a rare glimpse of how each Kalex race bike is put together for the rider for each and every race weekend.

If you’ve read our previous WSSP vs Moto2 – What’s the difference? feature, you’d know by now that Moto2 stands as the world’s most competitive one-make motorcycle racing series on the planet.

All bikes share the same 600cc in-line four-cylinder Honda powertrain derived from the CBR600RR road bike. Though there are several constructors that supply their chassis in the Moto2 series, the series has been dominated by teams and riders astride machines built by German firm Kalex.

Currently, nine of the top 10 riders in the Moto2 championship standings ride Kalex bikes. These include defending champion Johann Zarco, our nation’s very own Hafizh Syahrin, as well as Marc VDS rider Alex Marquez who’s bike is featuted in the video.

The time lapse shows how the Marc VDS team builds the Kalex machine starting from just a mere frame. Soon after comes all the other components like the rear swignarm, suspension, the Honda-supplied spec powertrain, electronics, as well as other ancillaries.

Crucially, the video clearly shows how the Kalex Moto2 bike – or any other Moto2 machine for that matter – differs starkly from road bikes in terms of componentry. Read more about the anatomy of a Moto2 bike against its peers in our special feature by clicking here.
